It Blows My Mind

Sometimes it is best to just sit back, relax, trust in divine design and listen to Abbey Road. It has always worked for me and it works for me still.

Love Transcends All Space and Time

Good Grief, how is Lenny Kravitz 51 years old? It doesn't seem possible. I've seen Lenny many times and this is always my very favorite song. There's a nice short version, the original video, the Lenny we fell in love with all those years ago.

BUT...if you've had a tough couple of hours (or in my case DAYS), check out the long live version too. Yougottogottogotto...take me to church Lenny!

After All These Years

A world without Letterman?  I didn't get married until I was 43. It's a silly gross cliche but I went to bed with David Letterman more nights than I can even imagine!

Godspeed, thanks for filling those long nights with laughter for so many years. I may have to drink coffee at 5pm, but I'm going to stay up tonight for a final fling.

Be Kind To Your Knees

Two of my sweet lovey cousins have daughters that are part of the Class of 2015. Sweet sweet girls, you have the entire world on a string. Ready, set, GO GET IT!

Just Busy Earnin'

It's Monday again and I'm glad I've got a good grind to get back to. Granted, it isn't "break dancing in a music video" good, but it is more than okay. Happy Monday!

I Don't Scare Easy No More

This week, I watched the reality show "Southern Charm" and seriously laughed until my sides hurt. To make up for it, I watched "Frontline" last night on PBS. It was all about salmonella poisoning...not sure I deserved a punishment THAT harsh. Cook the crap outta that chicken folks!

Once Upon A Different Life

This is one of those days when I wish I still had the Cabriolet, just to let the top down and drive with the radio blaring whatever the DJ played next.

And this is one of those songs that makes me wish I was 19, at an outdoor show watching this guy and developing another music crush.

A Few Basic Common Sense Rules

Praise the Lord and pass the SPF 100, the pool repair guys should be here tomorrow. We have a little leak. There's been so much rain, we were unable to drain the pool. But keep your fingers crossed boys and girls because Casa Sughrue should be in business by the weekend woo hoo!

I Used To Be A Swinger

Yesterday one of my dearest friends celebrated her birthday. She has been my buddy for over forty years and we've shared a love of music since we first met in pre-school. I wish I had five bucks for every dance we've done through the years. I feel pretty sure we had a least one to this song. Hope we get to make up a new routine soon!

When Your Dreams Are Only Blue

Like so many people, I watched A Montage of Heck this week. And one of the biggest surprises for me was actually my own reaction. I love Nirvana. Come on, I was working in a record store in 1991, I still remember listening to Bleach and Nevermind for the first time and thinking "Well, we've really got something here folks..."

But...I thought Kurt was a self absorbed a-hole. I thought his attitude was a little "affected" (my grandmother's polite way of saying fake). I don't know that I learned anything new about him from the documentary. What was really illuminated was how different I am in 2015. I'm more receptive. I'm more loving. I'm less cynical. I'm less judgmental. I wish Kurt could have made it out of his twenties because maybe things would have been different for him too.

In A Different Time On A Different Floor

I took a couple of days off work to potty train the princess. It is funny how football cheers and basketball chants from 30 years ago can be used during potty time with just a couple of minor substitutions. Every awful thing you've ever heard about potty training is true, plus about 50 other things that folks are just too embarrassed to say out loud.

But one thing I know for sure is this: my parents and grandparents somehow had the patience to wait this thing out with the most stubborn girl in the world (my sister) so we will make it too. Send nice dry thoughts our way!
